Interview with a Vet

I met a wildlife veterinarian in Puerto Princesa. Dr. Christopher Torno visited Busuanga to do a medical mission for the Calauit Island animals. Calauit is that island situated at the other end of Palawan, opposite Puerto Princesa. Since government funds ran out to sustain the island that was sanctuary to a lot of wildlife, veterinarians trek to the island and hold medical missions for forlorn giraffes in Calauit.

I salute these Filipino vets who offer their professional service for free for wildlife conservation helping Palawan. They take time out to travel to Palawan and prevent animal diseases to spread.

Dr. Torno is now based in Florida, working with the Dugong Center.
